Hello

I am considering pre-ordering Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edtion but I have a question.

I am running Windows XP Media Center with Service Pack 3, 2GB of RAM, 30GBs of free Hard Drive space and my video card is an ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 9300 that I bought in 2006. The Processor is an ACPI Uniprocessor PC. Will I be able to run it?

Any help would be great

You will be able to run it fine :D look:

Required System Memory (MB) 512 MB
Minimum Graphics GeForce 2 or Equivalent
Processor Speed (GHz) 1 GHZ

These are really old reqs, I'am quite sure your radeon is better than a old geforce 2!

Don't knock the old GeForce 2. That was a hell of a card ;-)
Raist has it cold, should run fine.

Most games will work fine on Windows 8 if they run on Windows 7. I do believe that it will support Touchscreen devices in Windows too so I am guessing it is fully Windows 8 compatible now.

No luck so far getting it to run on my Windows 8 system, even in compatibility mode. I don't know if it's Windows 8 to blame or not, however.

How do I download or play the game? It's in the My Games section of my beamdog account, but when i click on it I end up back at the page where I bought it for 19.99. What am I supposed to do now? Help!

I had the same problem, so I installed the Beamdog client and it seems to be downloading the game again (although I've preloaded it !), but some files are new e.g. Baldur.exe.
I don't think that installing the beamdog client is the right solution (why then the preload without beamdog client ?), but if it works, it is fine for me then.
But there is one (probably BIG) problem: unsupported Intel graphics cards. I don't think, that I've seen such a restriction in the past. I think it just showed up after yesterday's full release :(

Yes, there were the hw requirements, that stated, that GF2 MX is the minimum required graphic's card.
I would not buy it, if I knew that Intel integrated graphic's cards are not supported, because I have GMA 3100 !!!
I would buy the GOG version instead.
I don't like it.

are intel intergraded cards the ones that run thru your prossessor?

Eh, I don't understand your question.
I have notebook with Intel graphic's card, but...I haven't tried the game yet (I'm still downloading it), maybe I will be the one, who can run the game, but I hardly doubt it.
I'll post my testing result in a hour, when the game is downloaded.

Dedicated graphics cards run on their own power/VRAM and do not leech off of the board for resources, like integrated/built in cards do.

I still think that there are a lot of people not having problems that aren't posting on the forum. Don't assume that it won't work until you get the chance to try it yourself. It works on both machines I've installed it on.

I wish you the best of luck with it. I look forward to reading the results of your install.

Unfortunately, the game is not working.
I've managed to get into the BG: EE menu. After the click on the Baldur's gate button some weird texture showes through the whole screen and footsteppes ( ? ) can be heard behind. After I click the mouse, the main Baldur's gate main menu appears. I can create my own character or choose one of the premaid, then run Play. The chapter log showes up and after I click Done, the screen freezes and all is gone :(

My system specs are:
C2D T7500
2 GB RAM
GMA 3100 driver version 8.15.10.1749
Win7 Enterprise 32bit

Either something is wrong in my system or the GMA 3100 is really not supported. Only if I knew this earlier...

I'm running on a Toshiba Satellite L505D with Windows Vista Service Pack 2.

My video card is a Radeon 3100 series with 256MB dedicated memory, and I have 3GB system RAM.

When I double-click the icon, it shows up the screen with the nice, pretty "Play" button at the bottom center. I click it and what happens?

Nothing. The window closes, and I'm sitting here staring at my desktop.

Sooooo . . . My question is . . . where's my BG:EE?

If anyone is having trouble launching BG:EE on Windows 8, I've found a way that has reliably launched it on my machine. Find baldur.exe, for me it was in C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\BeamDog\Games\00766\baldur.exe. Right click on it and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility." Then select the first option "Try Recommended Settings." This will set it to Windows XP SP 3. For some reason this is the only way I've been able to get it to launch.

I tried to run it on Win 7. The latest compatibility mode there is XP SP2 and it won't help. The only thing I can see is menu, after clicking Done button game crashes/freezes/won't start.
I have Intel GMA 3100.

Addendum to my previous post;

Not only can I not get the game to run, but when I try to email Beamdog support, I get one of those pesky "Mailer Daemon" replies, telling me that it failed to deliver my message. I can't start the game and I can't email them about my issue. Apparently there's a problem with the "support@beamdog.com" address or something. So I'm still sitting here, tapping my fingers and muttering to myself under my breath.

I guess, even though I'm using Vista, I'll try Drahkir's suggestion . . .

Hmmm, no luck. It says "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application even log for more detail."

What the heck does that even -mean-?

So...I've managed to run the game, but...

I visited this site:
http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/7385/important-regarding-intel-hardware-driver-issues-slow-game-performance
and...

I installed the Sherry GMA drivers.
No compatibility (win nt, win xp sp1, ...) was needed to be turned on to run the game.
No Baldur.ini editing was needed to run the game.

The framerate is looooooow ! :( Wandering around the Candlekeep keeps framerate at max. 10 fps. When I used the Magic missile spell, framerate dropped to 1 fps or less. <sigh>

I hope, that some fix will be released till X-mas and all the Intel graphics users will be happy.
Otherwise I'd like my money back, gog version is awaiting me. Sorry overhaul, sorry beamdog.

I can not play BGee too :(
I pre-ordered game at 23/08/2012. At 14/09/2012 I got email where Trent Oster said that release of the BGee is moved to 30/11/2012 and everyone who bought game before this date will get "little extra". All I got is NOT WORKING GAME.
I'm very disappointed and I want to get my money back.

I have one little theory.
They have to fix it, because another games are in their stack, e.g. BG2, IWD. I don't think there is many people that play games like this. They need every player.
But if my theory is not correct, then they should fix it just because it's right. You can't announce game, announce hw reqs, then a while before game release change the hw reqs and laugh at the people, who bought your game and can't play the game.
I don't think they are laughing. I really think, that Overhaul is doing everything to fix the current unpleasant situation. We just have to wait.
Maybe it will be a very nice X-mas present.

Best solution so far, but not the last one:
Run the game in compatibility mode with Windows 95.
Video will be still choppy, but the gameplay will be better.

However there is another solution for those of you, who already own both the BG1 and BG2 games.
Install both BG1+TotSC and BG2+ToB. Apply the Tutu mod and install widescreen utility (v 3.05 works fine) after that.
You have now BG1 containing all the BG2 enhancements plus all the resolutions supported by the widescreen utility.

It's not a solution, but until some real BG: EE patch comes out, we can play. Hopefully the saves will be compatible with the BG EE version. If not, I don't care.
Sorry for spam.
