Launcher is hanging while trying to download Direct X

I bought Trapped Dead today and it downloaded without problems, When I tried to launch the game, however, the BeamDog launcher is stuck on the second part of the download, i.e. the updates to allow the game to play.
It says it's downloading Direct X 9.0c but it is just hanging. I've left it for periods of 5 minutes or more and it does nothing but it does say that overall progress is 100%

I already have Direct X 9.0c on the computer. It's an older system I'm using while the main one is in the shop so it's running XP Pro (with Service Pack 3).
I've disabled the P2P shield on my anti-virus and also disabled the Windows firewall to see if they were blocking the download but nothing seems to change the situation. Anybody have any ideas about this one?

The pre-requisite downloader is functioning very slowly and for some reason, not recognizing existing installs. I'll attemp a fix on this end to disable the pre-req.

Hey Trent, thanks for the quick response. I've tried the download client today and still get the same situation, I've even uninstalled the client and installed it from a fresh download. So now I have two more questions to ask.

One of the guys I work with told me about BeamDog in the first place and he suggested trying to launch the game from within the BeamDog folder on my computer.
I tried that but it would not launch and instead gave me the error message "application corrupt". As silly as this will sound, is it normal for the app to do that (i.e. refuse to launch unless it's opened through the BeamDog client) or is it a case of the client still thinks the game needs to be updated and so will not let it launch?

Once I told him that the "application corrupt" message was coming up, he suggested deleting the game and downloading it again. Is that a viable solution or is it totally unrelated?
Sorry for giving you nothing but problems, thanks again for your help.

The "application corrupt" message happens for some titles with our DRM when the player application is not running. Since the DRM is unable to contact the player application it terminates the .exe which from some .exe files causes windows to throw an "application corrupt" exit message.
We're aware that the pre-req system is causing some problems and we're trying to find a proper solution.

Best,
-Trent
