Precursors Problems (Russian VO and ATI Cards)

Hi. I'd like some responses from some other Precursors owners to see if they have the same problems.

First, what order do I install both Precursors, the Fan patch and the Unofficial Patch? I fear I might have done it wrong... I'm not getting any Russian voices. I downloaded the Precursors, then installed Wesp5's patch (this was before I knew about the Improvement patch) then downloaded the improvement patch. Also once the improvement patch was done, the original Precursors showed up as not downloaded, although obviously it was. I don't think that's a problem.

Secondly, the framerate is so weird. It was fine in the intro (and I can't tell if the patches made it worse or not) until I got to the imperial guys and robot, then I had to tweak the ini and put the graphics on low to get through. I cheesed my way past the prologue and got into that first city. It seemed ok there on Medium... anyway, I was about to quit, so just to test I knifed a guy in the head. Obviously the cops and stuff started shooting, and the framerate took a nosedive into completely unplayable territory.

Also it just seems to go down in bizarre places, makes no sense. I've heard this is because I have an ATI card and that there's not too much hope for players with ATI cards... can anyone here on ATI tell me their experiences with this game?

One person said to force AA with the Catalyst and turn it off in game but that didn't help (I didn't even have it on in the first place...).

And can anyone suggest any good .ini tweaks?

Hello,

i played trough the first level without slowdowns. I have the improvement pack and the ati fix installed. I tweaked no .ini files.

Graphic settings:
resolution 1280x720 (crappy monitor)
vertical sync on
quality highest
antialiasing off (i never have this on in any of my games :)

The latest Catalyst 11.3 driver is installed. Default settings.
Oh, i have a HD 5850.

And you got consistent framerate?
Ahh, I guess your computer must just be better than mine.

Oh well. Maybe I'll be able to work with it.

Gibush, try installing the Fan Improvement Pack without any additional patches and see if your performance is any better. The latest version includes a fix for ATI cards that may be applicable to you.

I guess that means deleting and re-downloading it...

Alright, I'll give it a shot. I think this game is worth it. (And if it doesn't work, in the next year or so I believe I'll be getting a new computer. I'll try to get an Nvidia card on it.)

What are your system specifications?

I have a core i5-750 and 6GB RAM. That's not really top notch.

It's miles and miles ahead of mine...
Pentum 4 3.0ghz w/HT
1 gig ram
And the aforementioned card.

It's not like I expected to max it but on the Deep Shadows forums I'd heard of other P4-ers playing it and White Gold. Maybe they had nvidia cards.

So like I said it's just bizarre. It goes from completely playable to unplayable seemingly at random.
