Look, I'm usually not the type to post on the forums regarding my opinion on games. I've played some flops in my day, but Beamdog has brought me out of hiding.

When I first saw that BG was being re-released I was so excited, I loved this game as a kid but I didn't have high expectations, I was really just hoping the multiplayer worked right and the bugs that existed in the original game were fixed.[shapeshifter and the like] Then I read about this "enhanced edition" stuff and I'll admit, I began to get my hopes up.

Boy was I wrong. NOTHING works right. Seriously, nothing. Multiplayer doesn't work, kits are still bugged, hell even the BG Launcher is broken. Just starting a game is such a massive headache. In all seriousness, the game has more functionality issues now than it did in 1998. It's a crime that Beamdog charges real money for this game. It's not worth 20 Monopoly dollars.

Yes the XP Cap is 161,000. I know there was a way to raise it back in the day. It might be on the Baldursgate.com Discussion threads.

Linda you already have the extra Characters. The extra characters are purchasable for the app version.

I've attempted all the workarounds to get this program to start. I do not know where to request a refund but at this point I'd really like one. Just for kicks I installed the windows 98 version and it works fine on windows 7 so I guess I'll stick to that. So I'd like a refund for Baldur's Gate EE please.

What game was it? I'm going to assume Baldur's Gate but this is a general forum for Beamdog not a Baldur's Gate specific forum.

Forum.baldursgate.com is where you go to ask these kinds of questions. If you are talking about Baldur's Gate the experience limit is 161,000 and that will not be changing in any future patches. You won't be able to get higher than that amount without modding the game or playing BG2EE (it was the same way in the original game).

Hey, folks. I just installed the patch from the 30th, and it seems to have horribly broken my game. It still runs, but not correctly. There are two issues that I've identified. The first is that my inventory has gone crazy. Some items are missing (just blank spaces in the inventory with the red "cannot use item" shading over them), and most of the others are replaced by other things entirely. Usually the new items are related (quarterstaff +1 becomes a normal quarterstaff, Dorn's sword becomes the Sword of Cursed Berserking, etc.), but sometimes they aren't (a normal quarterstaff became a claw attack, for example).

The 2nd issue is technically not something I can confirm as fully an error, since it's been so long since I last played BG1. I'm pretty sure that the random commoners and soldiers in Nashkel aren't supposed to attack me and spout doppelganger dialog, though. Even if they are, they aren't supposed to give me the same conversation three times in rapid succession. Whether my memory fails or not, something is wrong here.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? It's definitely game-breaking, and I'd really hate to have to restart.

Is there a way to download the installer?
I like to archive my games, and since I purchased it, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to get the install program.

I have had a couple of bugs with Neera. The one Varwulf just described, and also one having her stopping the party from resting at the inn because she was fighting with herself in the corner. She was not in the party at this time, but when I walked up to her, she initiated conversation and after that I could rest at the inn.

Eh, she is a wild mage after all.

Just purchased the game after it has been advertised on MMORPG since I loved Baldurs Gate and all the other good old Black Isle/D&D RPGs. Getting the same error as everyone else in this thread though.

Would be good to see a fix here.

Everything goes well except for some minor glitchs in translation.

But...

I made a mistake while creating my character and don't want to redo all from the start. (i'm missing a stat point to dual class, or whatever it's called in english ;p)

Back in time we add access to the console to create items, i'd like to know if it's still possible.
(yeah, it's bad, but still more enjoyable than redoing the game for 10+ hours)

I run windowed mode and maximize the window. Automatic resolution (in more ways than one).

Have you tried downloading the client and logging into that to see if it is in your games list?

Most likely all language support isn't 100% complete or isn't 100% final. I am sure they are aware of it. I know it sucks to wait, but have a little patience. I am sure it's on the list for a future patch.

I can confirm this, I already have her in my party.

I did have a bug though that (after your initial meeting with her) she will not talk to you and attempting to talk to her yields no results.

Save the game and load that save, she will engage in conversation with you (you do not have to reload the client, just your save).

A minor inconvenience that I am sure they are aware of.

i would assume not because the character file might be different as its a different game and there are new classes and races etc etc (couldnt be a half orc at first to my knowledge) im guessing you cant import into the original baldurs gate but wait untill / if the remake the second one

i had very bad lag try windows mode, yeah windows mode sucks but it plays much quicker

i would have to agree granted i didnt preorder as early as others (i didnt know when PCs could pre order and i think i did it about a week before release) so im kind of wondering if i get the extras too or not. if so awesome if not well i got what i came to get so no big deal

my likes and dislikes of the game are as follows:

in terms of random encounters my meat she- *ahem* companions montaron and xzar died instantly when i got set upon by a horde of gibberlings (really funny to watch i never liked those guys xzar freaks me out) so the difficulty remains this is set on the default difficulty which is easy i think. i think the diffuclty is upped a little bit because of the added characters and added spells and added classes like the werewolf (SO MUCH FUN) while i agree i would like the original videos perhaps add an option in the graphics menu to play them or not (but im not overly fussed, if i wanted the original videos ill play the original game, im here to see new stuff)

i like the subtitles very good thing, the new videos are very nice to look at and very well done and the way only certain things move reminds me of the MTG trailers on youtube (look at the phyrexia trailers to see what i mean)

dislike: it could be my monitor but every so often a line will be fuzzy and hard to read either in subtitle or in dialogue again chances are its my screen so not a stab at beamdog but if it is beamdog then they know,

the frame rate is pretty horrible when full screen is in effect this is countered by windows mode but this should be rectified as soon as possible, im not a fan of windows mode games

ok well i downlaoded it and after a few issues with frame rate (solved by windows mode) everything seems to be fine im not sure what your complaining about (also "what a worst company" makes no sense, sorry)

i tried multiplayer and it said it wasnt avaliable as of yet, which i dont mind because it gives you time to explore all the features like all the new sub classes (like the shapeshifter in the druid class) among many other things (and ofocurse playing a great RPG) i would say wait till beamdog settles the launch down and updates and fixes the bugs (ALWAYS bugs on release, if you think they didnt beta test this your just wrong, you think skyrim was flawless when it came out? you think -that- game didnt get beta tested?)

im not here to say beam dog are blameless they possibly are for some of the problems but you cant expect a flawless game upon release your jsut demanding the impossible, so im sorry to be rude but man up, wait a few days (or be curious and explore settings and stuff to try and fix it yourself and not expect people to do it for you) and and enjoy the service beamdog has tried to provide, getting an old game back on the front, bringing back hardcore and difficult gameplay i think the effort into all this for the price is WAY worth it, and you have to compare budgets, and think how much the budget was because making a game is a HUGE leap of faith every time you make one, just calm down and perhaps problems will get sorted and we can all go back to having 3HP wizards with our one sleep spell to use in order to survive (and most likely fail to do so)

@kat i have a similar problem but putting it in windowed mode makes it run MUCH faster so i have no problem with that

as for Ser Menalak ive had no problem with running the game so ill just tell you what i do to get the game running and perhaps it might work (not saying your doing anythign wrong but with your lack of...detail into what isnt working is hard to guess)

i have a shortcut for the game in my gaming folder, running that makes the beamdog client load up, i put my password in, it signs me in i click on the small play button where BG:EE is and it just runs, perhaps you could try windows mode aswell if it loads up but no play.

and yes ill admit i was VERY skeptical in giving beamdog my money (never heard of them untill i preordered the game) but i figured wizards would sue the hell out of beamdog if this project was done without consent so thank bioware for my trust :D! anyway i hope these tips help

don't know why this wasn't in the original download, its fairly embarrassing (just one more bug among the multitude i suppose), i couldn't find the original link where i got this fix so i cannot give credit where it's due

I'm running BG:EE on a convertible Notebook (Dell Latitude XT) with Windows 7. The 'TAB' key on a PC is used to highlight objects. In the manual, an onscreen highlight-button for the IPAD version is mentioned (lower right corner of the UI). Is this feature available for the PC version, too? I could not find or activate it when I was using my convertible in tablet mode.
