Me too. I've changed my password twice, no change. Anyone help?

Do I have to play this thru STEAM... god I have waited forever for this game release on Mac. If I am forced to play on STEAM I will not
buy ...... I HATE STEAM !
I hope someone knows the answer to this question, can I play a
stand alone without the STEAM client??

I get to the login/pw part of the downloader and it won't accept my entry. I'm definitely entering it correctly. WTF?

It is really weird, I get these speed boosts up to about 300 or 400 kbps bringing it to an hour or so estimated for the download, then it crawls back down to around 90 or 100. It's like some poor steam-powered server somewhere had some gunpowder tossed into it for a moment, only to then simmer down over the next few.

me too BGEE for mac osx --- noticed that you posted an hour ago, and over 80 people have viewed it. I'm thinking they are having the same problem. I'm guessing the issue will be addressed in about 9 days, which coincides with estimated time remaining for my game download. My theory is that the fine folks at beamdog are working hard to kick up the nostalgia factor. This game really does bring me back to the good ol' days of 1998, when I was on dial up.

Ok, I just tried it again, and I guess my little frustrated rant appeased some Gods because it started working. I don't know why, but I get a "launch" button now after the download (that I did 4 times before with no luck). I hope it works out for you all as well!

try dragging the icon into your apps folder. Manully open the contents and select terminal. You can log in that way but after you add the BG folder to your apps it should open.

I can't get it to open, either. I wonder if it has worked for anyone at all. Ugh. I don't think we should have to go online and research how to open a game we've already bought. It's not rocket science, right? Why were no instructions given?

i`ve made a little mistake and bought the Windows Version of Baldurs Gate instead the Mac Version. Is it possible to switch this?

when i start the downloader, the download starts normally, speed gets up, but then after 5 to 8 mb it slows fast down till i loose my internet connection and even (!) my wlan. only a reset gets me up again... whats that for a crap??? i payed and i just want to posses that game at least...

pls help...

I'm also going way too slow around 150Kb/s, really disappointing. We've had to wait this long for the game to come out for Mac, and now we have to wait some more. I downloaded the Preload earlier today, but there was no way to go from there to the game, so had to do the whole thing again.

Get your act together boys, this isn't serious for a game that's only 2 gb!!!

I preloaded BGEE last week and now wish to get started. But how? I understood that there would only be a small download needed yet there is no link to that, only the monotonous 1.8Gb download again? I am using the Baldurs Gate Launcher (not the Beamdog client thingamajig; although I got it from Beamdog). Any advice

I pre-purchased this game the other day. I click the install now button and I download the launcher but when I try to run the launcher it shuts down and does nothing. Is there something wrong with the download I was given? Thank you

I am attempting to preload BGEE for OSX and am getting speeds averaging less than 25KB/s. Is there something broken with the Baldur's Gate Launcher? Is there somewhere else I can download or buy this game?

I am considering buying this game. However, have limited bandwidth at home. Is there anyway I can download this game at work and then copy it to a computer at home? Sounds like this game has to be installed via this client. Oh well. Would have loved to be able to play this.

EDIT: I should mention that I am considering getting the OSX version of this game. Will it use a similar client?

Trying to get a six person game going with many of my friends, and we cannot seem to sync up, on the rare occasions we do all manage to get in the game together without any other issues. Even with one friend literally in the same room with me on my same network, we're having these issues. When things DO seem to go smoothly, the entire game will crash for everybody.

Not sure what else to do at this point. Hamachi is limited to 5 people, rather than six, so we can't seem to do that, and it's quite a production to arrange everybody's work schedules to try to fix things without actually playing.

Also, the forum setup on this site is pretty rough to navigate, as it's merely every single thread going in chronological order, without any search function or organization :\

I don't see the big deal, its a good game and runs great with the client. You could still talk about it on the steam community discussions. I like being able to play anytime while offline, steam you have to go online to go offline. I still love Steam, i expected it to come to Steam even though it was said it might not and that's not Beamdogs fault, blame Atari. Ive seen this happen before. Origins keys work with Steam keys sometimes because those are EA games, and Origin is EA. So i don't expect anything back, except for a sale page that has sales, that would be cool. Just play this great game, it takes one click from the desktop, and you dont even have to open or login through the client, to play it. Just one less game people dont know you have on steam, but you could add it as a non-steam game if you want it in your library.

Well, I am sure BGEE would work on win8, the original's have problems on some newer os's. In fact all infinity engine games do. And win8 sucks i have heard. Try changing compatibilty settings, google it, buy BGEE or the GOG versions, here this might help its for win7 but might work with win8. http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=55738

You can still access the community and participate in discussions and such, even if you don't own the game on steam. Of course you cant add it to your steam except as a non-steam game, they're completely different clients.
