@HaHaCharade You do NOT have to use the beamdog client for bgee, but you can if you want to, otherwise bgee has its only launcher that will validate (for first use) and then check for updates, after which it closes and the game runs. I don't know much about sound sets, but bgee is said to be very accessible to modders, so I'm sure it won't be a problem.
Best solution so far, but not the last one:
Run the game in compatibility mode with Windows 95.
Video will be still choppy, but the gameplay will be better.
However there is another solution for those of you, who already own both the BG1 and BG2 games.
Install both BG1+TotSC and BG2+ToB. Apply the Tutu mod and install widescreen utility (v 3.05 works fine) after that.
You have now BG1 containing all the BG2 enhancements plus all the resolutions supported by the widescreen utility.
It's not a solution, but until some real BG: EE patch comes out, we can play. Hopefully the saves will be compatible with the BG EE version. If not, I don't care.
Sorry for spam.
Per chi chiede della traduzione italiana, la stanno completando e tra poco sarà pronta
Italian language will be released asap

The solution seems obvious. Buy the game. Download it. Backup your c:\program files\BeamDog\Games folder to HD or DVD.
Now you're covered.
just be fucking grateful that you got it working. i havent.
can't wait for BGEE to come out XDDDDD
Everything I've read says there will be DRM on the game.
1. Price will be $19.99
2. Since they are sold through mutliple stores, we have to sell each platform individually.
3. Yes, We are still working on the contract
4. I am unsure. We use OpenGL 2.0 and we play nice in Windows, so it may.

how can i get the german version ? i installed it sucessfully but its in english and i cannot switch ? In steam i saw the german version is available ?
Ok I used to heavily modify baldurs gate in a lore friendly way and was wondering if the following features have been added or still user friendly.
Portraits- is it still the same way of putting them in your data folder for custom portraits
Sound Recording- Does this game have a built in sound recording for your character to play your own voice? Or can you add your own voices by placing them in the sounds folder.
Also since ive never used your website before I was wondering when we can pre-download without the client OR use my original cd's to install a fresh copy and then overhaul the game via a download.
the game downloaded 100 mo approximatly then now stuck at getting download info... donwloading from standalone installer
I had no issues at all. After it's done downloading the loader just comes up and says pre-load complete in the stand-alone installer. It will have a play option when it comes out on the 28th. Not before.
It is my sincere hope that these glitches with the Beamdog launcher/downloader with be addressed and adjusted long before BG2:EE is released. And, yes, Beamdog, you will give us BG2:EE. We like it. We love it. We want some more of it. My current issue is that my launcher is switching between "1 hour, 10 minutes" and the dreaded "Limited connectivity: One or more games can't be downloaded". Oh, the horror!!!
Okay, true, I have the original game and expansion on CD (6 discs in all), and I can easily just install that and bask once more in the glory of that epic tale. Of course, the resolution is only 640x480, and I have to make certain adjustments to make it function properly on Windows Vista. But I can still play the game, darn it!
That being beside the point, I plunked down my $19.99 so that I could relive it in higher rez and experience added content. Begging is not my strong suit, but if that's all you need to iron out the download issues, then I and BG fans everywhere are more than ready to oblige.
Did I really see you mention STEAM? You obviously have never had to wait over 24 hours for a new Steam product to download. Please ... never Steam. I won't buy Steam products on principle!
Guys pls, can you tell me, how can i disable p2p option. I dont see it in downloader properties and forum dont say it, how to do it. My launcher crashing all the time ... Thanks.
I hate this goddam internet installers.
I actually managed to get it to work!
I thought I had the latest ATI Drivers (at least, Steam was saying they were up to date), went to AMD/ATI's website and downloaded their latest software, this installed "ATI Catalyst" which I didn't have anymore having installed my lastest drivers through steam.
And now it works!
So for every ATI users experiencing the same crash, you should get this here, and install all components : http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Turned off footsteps for slight improvement. I've managed to get the game somewhat playable by turning off footsteps and adding to/playing with the baldur.ini file otherwise... but even still I'd rather play the modded originals. Running an i3 with HD Graphics and I'm pretty sure the HD Graphics are problem. From what I've read they have poor OpenGL support even after updating drivers (which I have)
Same problem as NewBeginning here. I managed to starty the game once manually with the Baldurs.exe in the 0766 folder but it only worked once. Now I tried both clients and both do the same thing they start up everything is downloading, then when I click play... WHAM... a whole load of nothing. Even watched what happens in task manager, game starts and sometimes stops or sometimes just sits there doing nothing,,, Really frustrating having had the lauch date put back and then it not working. I hope it get's resolved soon!
He inglés menos :P
Si quieren que lo compren los españoles, ya saben a lo que atenerse, full spanish como casi todos los juegos que sacan ahora
oh, a friend pointed me here, so if anyone else has problems, check this: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/7385/important-regarding-intel-hardware-driver-issues-slow-game-performance
How to expose the permission 2560-1600?
Hi is there any way that I can buy multiple copies on one account and distribute or gift the remaining copies to friends? Also does this support LAN?
whats this stuff about ports?
Really, Karrick? ... Fine. I'll borrow a flatmate's laptop tomorrow and go study somewhere with free Wifi. -_- Insane solutions to insane problems. *sigh*
Beamdog has crashed so many times I've deleted the thing.
Now using uTorrent over free wireless to download the 00766 file.
106MB in 24 hours. So. Painful.
Do about fifteen hundred people feel like being overly angelic and seeding the torrent?!
@Splaat - Glad it worked for you. Cheers!

When we have the sounds in other languages? The old version of Baldur's Gate did have voices in other languages. For example, in Spanish.
PC players bought BG:EE for $20. Let's call that the "full game".
ipad users are given a choice. The base BG:EE game is $10, thats the Enhanced Edition in all of its glory, kits, new UI, native high res and more plus the Black pits and new monk character.
Then you can add the 2 other new characters and the portrait pack for $3 each.
Buying the base game and the rest of the content for the ipad would be $1 less then PC players paid for the same "full game".
Starting with a less expensive base game allows them to have a competitive price point in the mobile platform market. While giving us the chance to get the rest of the content if we want it.
BG was great, BG:EE is better. However you look at it 10-20 bucks for a game that has 100's of hours of playtime is amazing.
i had a problem where the game was crazy slow and i ran it in windowed mode and now it works fine s i'd first suggest that. if not that then perhaps updating drivers or updating the game, if that doesnt help post exactly whats wrong and ill see what i can do
Ha, thank you for that bit of info. Merry Christmas
You shouldn't need to use the Beamdog client in order to get the stand-alone launcher to work.
The launcher requires .NET 3.5 in order to run properly, though; make sure your .NET installation hasn't been corrupted.
If you have more issues with the launcher (or with any other aspect of the game), send an email to support @ beamdog.com and I'll take a closer look.
Unfortunately we don't have any control over the Steam version of the game (including Steam keys); Atari handles the distribution there.
I have a generic PnP monitor on Intel(R) express chipset family. Will BGEE run on my computer?
I do apologize for the lack of responses on this forum; in the future, if you're experiencing issues with this or any game in our catalog, if you send an email to support@beamdog.com I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Few more comments:
Just realize that the last request is already available (Character edition).
I also noticed that I set my char's script isn't being saved. Everytime it re open the game I've to set the default script to the characters.
