It fixed a lot of issues for me. If you have a GeForce GPU apparently you won't see the flicker problem, but I have an ATI and the unofficial patch fixed it for me. Also The sound cutting out issues are mostly fixed with it. You do need to manually pick the Beamdog installer folder but all is well after that. I made a backup, installed it and it was fine. I'm about an hour into it and it's a lot better.

While it says you only have "X number of activations left", you can reclaim that number by de-activating your install before deleting it.
